About Our Squadron

The Holston Valley Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol,the official civilian auxilliary of the United States Air Force, is located in Abingdon Virginia. We hold meetings every Thursday in the old terminal building at Virginia Highlands Airport. Our Squadron Commander is Major Robert Dorton and our Cadet Commander is Major Charles Tyhurst.

Our squadron is a composite squadron meaning that we have both senior members and cadet members. Senior members are men and women 18 years of age and older while cadet members are young men and women between the ages of 12 and 21.

We strive to be of service to our community, state, and nation.
